I am a temporary Lutheran because the church is close to my house, and because I need Advent.  Advent is a sane reminder that Jesus is coming (again).  Cynics and “seen-its,” burn-outs and washed-ups like me are invited to partake in the party that is marked by waiting for the next party.  There is no other season where one can feel the present/not-yet-ness of the Jesus message as palpably.  You can taste it
